Sound Samples

Here are samples of some our recent performances:

Into The Light    - Jay Bocook

Into The Light was commissioned by the Verona, New Jersey High School Wind Ensemble, in loving memory of Catherine Bell, a clarinetist in the band. The piece is composed of two main sections, the first of which is a reflective, tranquil setting, followed by a triumphant Allegro. The tranquil clarinet theme of the first section and the exuberant brass theme of the second section merge at the end of the piece for an exciting conclusion.

Reflections on an English Hymmn "Jerusalem" (1916)
   - William Blake & Sir Hubert Parry / Strommen

The words of Jerusalem were written by William Blake in 1804 as the preface for his prophetic work Milton, written on John Milton (1608-1674), who was then regarded as England's national poet. The text was later set to music by Sir Hubert Parry in 1916, and is now England's most popular patriotic song. The most famous version was orchestrated by Sir Edgar Elgar in 1922 for a large orchestra at the Leeds Festival. Upon hearing the orchestral version for the first time, King George V said that he preferred "Jerusalem" over "God Save the King", the National Anthem. Additional exposure for the hymn occurred in 1981 with the film, Chariots of Fire. The film drew its title from the poem's line, "Bring me my chariot of fire," and the music of Jerusalem was included in the film's soundtrack.

Don Ricardo (2006)    - Gabe Musella (perc. by Rick Rodriguez)

It is dedicated to Mr. Richard Crain for his selfless devotion to the students of the Spring Independent School District, Houston, TX.
